    Automatic Power Window Problem

First, thanks to spyder for using my WK for the clip art for this section. I feel the love! Next here is my problem. On my WJ, it had the push it once and the window goes all the way down feature. My WK has the same type of feature but it also has the windows goes all the way up feature. It's a great idea - one touch makes the window go up when leaving the ATM machine, drive through, etc. Here's the problem - it comes and goes. Just about the time that I'm ready to give in and take it to the dealer, it starts working again. The power window always works, and the auto DOWN feature always works, it's the auto up feature that is moody....maybe my jeep is male..... anyway, if anyone has any thoughts, I'd appreciate it. THANKS!!!!

This is just a thought because I had the same problem with my Superduty and my 99 ranger. The felt in the track gets a little sticky. Take some lube (anyone want to chime in here on what to use) Something like lithium or graphite with a tube and put the window down and spray a tiny bit in the felt at the back and front of the window track. Then run it up. I could be completely wrong but that is what I had problems with. Hope it helps.

Hey, I'll take any advice, thanks! I am also trying to troubleshoot the problem with relation to the cold???? It seems to work fine in the heated garage, but it did work in the extreme cold a couple weeks ago. Who knows? But, again, thanks for the thoughts!!!!

  4. I believe the auto up features have a built in safety option....basically when they feel resistance they stop. Keeps your passenger from closing your head in the window haha. Perhaps you are getting a build up of ice/snow in the window tracks. Or they are just getting cold and stiff. Try lubing them up it might help.

Cold weather and power windows, the perfect combination for intermittent problems. Try the lube in the tracks that was suggested, a good silicone based spray lube would be best, not WD40, it's water based and will freeze ( I have a frozen can in my garage right now).

Homemade.....Do really think that I'd close TJ-Marine's head in my window??? Hmmmm That may be a good idea... Seriously, though - thanks for the ideas. I think that you're all right - it's weather related. It worked fine today - but it was 45 degrees here today....
