    going long

    has any one ever swaped points to a new electronic system ?? steve doesn't count.. horses didn't have points when he grew up... lol

    part # 1541 is what my old f-head calls for.. any thoughts ????? seems to be worth trying.. then i don't need to used the picklers dwell meter

    I will tell you this, as much as Im looking foward to trying to remember how to use that thing, I can remember that if my 60 chevy sat for more than a month, I was in there cleaning the points to get it started. I would try it! That way you dont have to carry an old match book and a spare set of points in your glove box!

    ya that too... lol it has claims of smoother idle, and some power extra powr at all rpm ranges... the header, and 2 barrel carb come next !!!

    Never installed one, but have heard good things from people who run them. Definately better than points.

    I would definately swap out the points, all the claims are true. Guy I knew did a conversion like that on a 53 powerwagon and it was a big difference in reliability and seemed to run smoother and snappier.

  8. If you are going to keep the points i have dwell meter to set them. I run points in the boat much easier to fix on the water then electronic. I carry a extra set with me.
